Q: Can I rent a jeep or 4x4 in San Francisco Bay Area and drive to Mexico? If so, any agencies to suggest?
I need to rent a four wheel drive vehicle in the San Francisco Bay Area for a drive into Mexico, just south of the border. I can't find information on agencies that will allow for such a rental. Any recommendations?
A: Most agencies that you rent from, say that you can only travel a short distance into Mexico. You should check with your own auto insurance provider to see if you are covered with a rental car into Mexico.
Q: Does anyone know where there is a good Jeep 4x4 center in the Bay Area (San Francisco)??
Not new Jeeps, but like rock-crawlers 4x4's etc.., CJ-7's etc..
A: well if you have the time and energy to go to the jeep dealership in san jose...well you're i luck because they offer the best deals in the bay area.
Q: What is the best way to further pursue a (property damage only) hit-and-run car accident in San Francisco, CA?
A woman recently backed into my fiance's '69 VW Bug, while trying to park her Jeep Cherokee. She got out of her vehicle, but refused to give her name or any insurance info, then sped off. The hood of the Bug needs to be replaced, & the car repainted, as it was a custom job. We got her license plate # (WA plate), but the SFPD doesn't follow up on hit and runs, as they happen so often. Through other means, we found the address & a defunct phone # for the person that the car is registered to, & have sent a certified letter requesting either her insurance info or a payment for the estimate of damages (the latter included because we can file in small claims if the demand for payment is ignored). Because he only has liability insurance on his car, his insurance co. won't do anything unless we have the woman's insurance info (we do not). A report is on file with the SFPD, but since there was only property damage, they won't pursue the matter. Is there anything else we can or should do?
A: Any one living in California is an absolute moron if they don't carry uninsured motorist coverage, and if you see enough in him to marry him, he probably is not a moron. One of my cars is an older model that I only carry liability coverage on, but I still have the Uninsured Motorist coverage too. Its really cheap. Just turn the information over to his carrier and claim under the Uninsured coverage.
If the at fault party's license plate is from Washington state there is a possibility that she is living in California, and has failed to registered her car here.
Q: In Claifornia How do I give My Wife power of Attorney to sell my Jeep?
: I'm leaving for Hong Kong in two days, my wife will join me in about two weeks, I want to sell my Jeep a a really good price by buyer standards, but I won't be here. So.. I want my wife to sell it before she goes... The car is in my name so there is not enough time to switch that and sell it also... so "How do I give my wife the Power of Attorney to sell my Jeep?" by the way I live in San FrAncisco California...
A: Your wife doesn’t need “Power of Attorney” to sell your car. Just sign the title (in several places) and leave it with her. Don’t forget to complete the Release of Liability at the top of the title and request the buyer complete their portion. The Release of Liability is mailed to DMV by the seller.
I just sold my daughters car for her. She never met the buyers. This brings up the point of your wife’s safety. A man was recently shot in Vallejo selling his car and there have been several thefts in San Jose from armed men contacting sellers on Craigslist.
You should insure your wife’s safety in this endeavor before you leave.
Good Luck
Q: Toddler & Baby - Umbrella stroller? San Francisco trip?
we are flying to san francisco this weekend - 2 1/2 yr old & 10 month old - will be staying a week visiting SF and bay area to Santa Cruz. Anyhow - 1st time flying with them. I understand umbrella strollers are the way to go - I'll have to go purchase today - DO WE NEED A TWIN Umbrella STROLLER? Or would 2 singles work OK? I'm thinking of logistics of sightseeing...cable cars, ease of folding & carrying. And - how is the JEEP TWIN UMBRELLA for folding & carrying (again, cable cars, etc) Right now I have: 1 Maclaren Techo for toddler & Combi stroller frame (pop carseat into it) I use at home. The twin umbrella is harder to find - so cant decide if I should just go for 2 singles? thanks
A: I have children..
I would say two umbrella strollers or better yet... 2 stroller and one back carrier....
**Some streets like in Chinatown you will not be able to push a double stroller at all you would have to walk in the street**.... unless it is one of the double strollers with a seat in the front and a seat in the back.... single strollers are easy and lighter to carry then a big double one and cheaper... Get one that will be easy for them to nap or for you to change a diaper...At times I have put two children in one stroller for short peiods of time ...........
Q: A good Jeep parts site?
I am looking for a Front passenger door for a 1991 Jeep Cherokee Briarwood (has wood paneling). It is a limited
edition.
I have perused a few sites but could not find it.
I would appreciate some suggestions on sites I could try or even Auto wreckers in my area (I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA).
Thanks.
A: Check out www.car-part.com Its kind of a search engine of salvage yards. Pretty useful though, I've used it for my Jeep plenty of times. And you can search locally so you won't end up driving all over the place. Hope this helps.
Q: Should I get a mini cooper?
I am in need of a car and I was looking into getting the mini cooper. I currently drive a Jeep Liberty and live in San Francisco. I love my jeep, but it is having problems and gas is killing me. Any thoughts on the Mini? How is gas? and does it break down alot?
A: The Mini is a good choice.
Small (parking in SF is a b*tch), quick, nimble, and very safe. Good design plus six airbags.
Mileage is good if your right foot behaves itself.
Here's a good Mini Cooper forum you should browse and ask questions in:
http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/
There's a HUGE Mini Cooper community out there with clubs, activities, and lots of good advice.
Q: What is the process of getting a Driver's License for a 16 yr. old?
My Niece Alex is driving around on a Driver's Permit and she is just 15 yrs. old and finishing up High School. She took
Driver's Education, also. She also passed the driver's test.
She lives an 1-1/2 hr. from here in Innisbrook or Tarpon Sprgs.
and she attends Countryside High School. I don't know what
her main course of study is but, she says this is Art. She gets
really good grades A-B. I don't know what she is using for
Insurance, either. She wanted to be a Cheerleader and then,
she wanted to be a Model. I do not believe she has worked,
yet. I sure do hope she will get to visit me, sometime, soon.
My nephew and his friend or heading out to San Francisco CA.
Next month, sometime. They drive really well. His Birthday is
this mo. My ex-hubby would love to get a motorcycle. He rode
one before I met him. He had a Jeep when I met him. And a
Ford, Escort. I had a Ford, Maverick. His was red, mine was
black. I didnot drive mine much. He drove his a lot.
Or, rather his was a black Ford, Escort
and mine was a red Ford, Maverick. I
did not drive mine much, but he did and
had an accident in his car.
A: If she has passed the driver's test, then the license would have been issued then and there. I am talking about the DMV driver's test, and I hope you are too.
Is it possible that she didn't pass the test and that is why she still has her permit?
At any rate, call the Florida DMV and make an enquiry into the process for obtaining the license. Also, find out if she has insurance, if she doesn't, then whoever owns the car she is driving is putting themselves in the position to be liable in an accident. good luck.
