Q: Dollar car rental, Phoenix - how new is their Jeep fleet? New enough to have models with Aux/ipod input?
We are renting a Jeep Liberty thru Dollar in October, out of Phx. We are wondering whether they will be the recent (2008) models - specifically we want to know whether the car stereo will have an AUX input for ipods (2008 models apparently do)? Has anyone rented a Liberty with them recently? Thanks

A: Im not sure about their jeeps but i was there a week ago renting a dodge caravan and their cars seem relatively old 21000+ miles on them. so if the jeeps are similar i doubt they will have the jack their cars seem more like 2007 models

Just need a car that will last me for about 1.5 to 2 years in Tucson- rarely driving to Phoenix that won't be expensive to maintain- if you have other vehicle suggestions let me know.

A: Have 1990 and a 93 with 220,000 miles or more. Parts cheap and readily available. MUCH CHEAPER THAN THE FOREIGN JUNK! You can customize to your heart's content. Bare in mind that the Cherokee was produced from 1984 to 2001 with little change along the way. In fact MANY parts from earlier models, particualary body parts will fit later models. Check repair parts prices. I Tucscon, make SURE your fan clutch is good and radiator clean. Good Luck and learn the Jeep wave...you are in good company. I will go one painful step farther. I put both my son's in Jeep Cherokees with the idea that if they had an accident, they would survive. Head on collision with a brick wall at legal 50 MPH. am honestly scared right now. I was at a park walking my dog then was sitting on a bench by the parking lot listening to these two guys and a girl going off about Obama and African americans. As they left they guy in the one car backed out and stupid me asked him where is your hood was you racist piece of junk not in those exact words. He said look man you said the wrong thing its your funeral and f-off. I just thought they left, but I was walking in the woods back to my house i saw the other vehicle his friends a old white Jeep Cherokee was driving around. I was on a sub-path with my dog and this jeep pulled into the woods and 6 guys came out of it. The guy i mouthed off too said lets get him he is down there. They were being really quite but i finally got to my house in my backyard. One of them was standing right at the end of the woods and yelled for the rest of them. He asked me do i have anything to say?? I just ran inside. about half a hour ago there jeep drove by again and the guys mustang i lipped off too. These guys are kind of scary. There were these big german guys, the one driving the jeep looked like Joaquin Phoenix. Other two were average looking white trash. I don't know never been is a situation like this i justdon'tt likeracismm and i am white, should i call the police. It is apparent they know were i live, seems like some white trash. Do think they would comeback, the guy that looked like joaquin Phonix showed me his large knife. It has been a three hours ago as this happened i am worries they will comeback

A: Yes report it. If anything to make sure the police know it happened. Get a case number from the police to reference if something else happens to you. In the future: a) find a way to express yourself with out sounding rude. b) If you are being followed, do not head home but find some other public place. c) Call the police right away when threatened. A: For the off road purposes I would look at the Jeep. Also check out an FJ Cruiser from Toyota.

Q: Is my alternator bad?
So I was storing my 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee on the 9th floor of a parking garage in Phoenix. I've heard that the heat can kill a battery. The Jeep ran perfect before parking it the last time. Well I went to move it and it was dead, completely dead. I pulled my car up and gave it a jump, and the Jeep started when I revved the car up. However, the jeep wouldn't stay running unless I kept my foot on the gas. If I left it to idle, the jeep would die.

A: If it runs with your foot on the gas, it's probably not the alternator. You never said how long it was in storage. It could be a number of unrelated problems. Air in the fuel lines... water in the fuel lines... An ignition issue... Engine Control Module (ECM) issues... Injector issues... If the battery is toast it could be pulling down the alternator. Replace the battery... then go from there.

Q: Have 2 puppies, Not sure if they're vaccinated... What vaccinations do puppies need?
I was fixing my jeep a week ago, and a lil puppy just wandered into my garage. bewildered, I picked him up and walked around a little bit looking for his owner, no luck. I have tried to locate the owners, put up flyers and checked pets911, no dice... My fiancee' is in love with them, so It looks like were keeping them. My question is What vaccinations do puppies need? How much does it typically cost? Are there any cheaper ways to get their shots *saving like a wild man cause my fiancee' is pregnant* Any input would be appreciated, thank you very much! A: YOU don't need to know what shots are needed, your vet does. Your vet will also know whether you are in a heartworm area or can get away with just a few rounds of roundworm dosing. Ring around the available vets to get quotes for the inspection plus vaccination, then book in to the one that suits you best. Forget about bargain-price suppliers - the saving in purchase price is not worth the cost of IV feeding (with a high risk of the pup not surviving) if the vaccination doesn't work, PLUS you don't have the equipment and knowledge to check whether your pups are healthy enough to BE vaccinated. Nor do you have the faintest idea as to how old those pups are. Nor is YOUR signature on a rabies-shot certificate going to convince any health officer. Q: Why does my 2000 Jeep Cherokee keep dying?
So last week, I pulled my car out of my complex and as i slowed down to make my first turn...it went dead on me. I restarted it and it worked fine. No complaints for a week. Yesterday I was pulling out of my complex and it died on me again. It happened three times, and then there were no problems. So both times it has happened, it was when I was first starting the car up and driving slowly away after it had been sitting all day. One person told me there are some engine wires on the top that burn out easily and that is probably the problem. Another person suggested it was a problem with the alternator. I read in other people's questions that it is a problem with the fuel pump. Any input would be fantastic, for I'm just trying to piece everything together. And if you know any reliable mechanics in Phoenix, Arizona...I would love some contacts. Thank you!

A: does this happen in hot weather? being that you are in Arizona, has this ever happened early in the cool of morning? the additional heat from weather and a hot engine could cause a build up of air that can sit in the fuel rail, a term called vapor lock. another question... when the car is running at full load, like on the highway in top gear, does it ever surge or stall? that would be a syptom of a fuel pump starting to fail.
