Q: Anyone know where I can rent a jeep in Los Angeles???
I'd like to rent a jeep for a one day trip. A jeep that has an exposed or partially exposed roof top.
A: Try Hertz or Enterprise. They usually have a wide variety of cars to choose from.
Q: where can i buy a nice and used Jeep Wrangler in West Los Angeles?
That range from 1000 to 6000 max. Please any websites out their?
A: I wish you the best of luck at finding a great Jeep at a reasonable price in the LA area. It spent a week in the area earlier this month and was truly shocked at the relatively high prices for used cars in LA by comparison to the prices in the eastern US.
I would probably lean more towards Craigslist to find an individual that is selling their Jeep over other sites that advertise Jeeps being sold by dealers. It is not that dealers are bad, but sometimes they can import cars from other parts of the country where rust from highway salt (the car rusting from the bottom up instead of the top down which is more typical in CA) is a bigger issue than in your market.
Also, be sure to run a CarFax on the vehicle prior to purchasing it from either an individual or a dealer. These reports may not be the most accurate vehicle histories on the market, but they will give you a very good idea of the title history of a car. Even if it is a clean title, you will be able to see if this Jeep spent time in a snowy climate or if it is from a more arrid part of the nation.
As far as the big car sites go, I like http://www.cars.com although in some cities, http://www.vehix.com is becoming more popular. Don't forget the Autos section here on Yahoo as well. Also, be sure to check out message boards like http://www.ilovejeeps.com orhttp://www.jeepsunlimited.com for people near you that might be needing to sell their rigs.
Good luck on your search for a Jeep Wrangler.

Q: female Jeep Wrangler X owner: Does an inch really make a difference?
I am in the process of purchasing a 2007 jeep wrangler x . I have the option of purchasing 16 inch wheels...or 17 inch for about $200 more. Look wise the 17inch is prettier to me but aside from looks is the 16 more practical? which one will provide a smoother ride? less gas?, less expensive tire care down the road? Does an inch really make a difference? Please let me know. I am first time jeep owner in Los Angeles. I don't mind going on camping trips but I will primarily drive the car on streets.
A: I will tell you right now that the primary difference between 15, 16 and 17 inch wheels as far as you are concerned is the price and availability of tires. If you pick the right size tire to go with any of these wheel sizes you will not notice a change in gas mileage because the overall diameter will not change. You will find the widest availability of tire sizes (and the cheapest tires) with a 15 inch wheel. The 15" tires will also have a lower load rating, and therefore be smoother on the road. 16" tires you will find in mostly metric sizes, 255/70/16 for example. These tires are widely available, but they tend to be load rating D, or more commonly E, and are much stiffer and harder riding than the 15 inch C rated tires.
I would stick with 16's, or if you can, get a 15" wheel, it will pay off in the long run.
Q: Big Bear road at night?! Help! (los angeles travel)?
I am going with three friends in a covered jeep on a weeknight to a house in Big Bear. What are the roads like? I mean from like San Bernardino to Big Bear? Twisty and curvy? Horrible? Scary? Big drops? I had a panic attack once on the Angeles Crest Highway at night and I'd hate ot repeat that nightmare. Is it okay to drive?
A: very windy. steep cliffs. right on the edge. i'm not kidding. just drive slow and pull over for faster traffic.
Q: Best place to get Jeep TJ doors repainted?
I just got some new doors for my Wrangler but they're the wrong color. Can anybody recommend a good place to have them painted? I'm in Los Angeles. Thanks.
A: if money is no problem check a specialty paint shop for a paint job on the cheap earl schieb I used to do paint and body work with my dad so I have a little experience
Q: Howdy jeep owners! the Dual Top option, any info on the pros, cons, and how it works?
I am purchasing a jeep wrangler x soon (2 door) and I live in Los Angeles. I was seriously considering the hard freedom top for cover but was then told about the dual top. for those who are in the know, any suggestions or advise? This will be my first jeep!
Thank you.
A: To me it seems like a waste of money, but if you have someplace to store the hardtop when you are not using it then thats a good place to start. I bought my JK with the soft top intending on buying a hard top later, but there is no difference in noise level, I have heard the a/c cools a little better with the hardtop, but I wouldn't want to store the hard top, and now I like the soft top better anyway so I am staying with that. Unless you have a concern over stuff getting stolen because the soft top provides very little security i would go with the hard top, other than that I am very glad I didn't spend the extra money on the hard top.
Q: Where would you vacation within 400 miles of Los Angeles, CA in October. 9 day stay?
I am open to Cabins, etc. I have an RV an would love to take my wife and 2 kids fishing. Ideally right on a body of water. I usually go to the Sierra's but after backpacking in the Sierra's for many years 60 miles from the nearest town, I don't see the attraction anymore. I usually on a 3 -5 day vacation will take my older son fishing in the Colorado River area.
Where would you ideally with 2 kids (age 5 and 2) and wife, to fish, relax and in an RV, on a body of water? I am not opposed to the ocean either. Temperatures do not bother us either.
Oh yeah, I always bring my jeep to 4 wheel drive, so 4 wheeling is a plus as well. Thank you!
A: Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear, Leo Carrillo Beach, Lake Encinitas, Ojai
Compared to the Sierras, you might want to consider Mammoth which is just over 400 miles from Los Angeles.
If you can travel a bit longer, Yosemite.
Q: Tire Carrier Customized and WELDED For a JEEP Rubicon?
I need HELP! My fiance has a Jeep Rubicon, I believe it is a '06. He recently bought it used, and one of the main features he fell in love with is the customized rear tire carrier the previous owner built for the car. All I know is that the tire carrier was customized and WELDED onto the rear of the jeep.
The problem is, back couple of months ago we went out to dinner, and parked his jeep in the lot. An hour or so after, we came out to notice that someone was messing with the carrier. Probably to either steal the jack or the spare tire... but because of some idiot the whole thing fell apart, and he is desparately looking for any one who has some knowledge or knows anyone who welds here in Los Angeles. I want to surprise him for his bday (09.04) but I haven't had any luck. I tried ebay, but everything that looked decent is way over my budget, and I honestly just want to get him is original carrier back on....
CAN ANYONE HELP ME?
FRUSTRATED IN LOS ANGELES, CA
thanks for all the input.
A: There are tons of really good 4x4 mechanics in L.A.. Check the yellow pages or online to find one that looks good. I would also find a Q&A forum for Jeeps and ask if someone could recomend one. A good shop can weld the old one back together or help you find a good quality replacement. Not being from L.A., the only shop that I have heard about is the "Four X Doctor". The stuff that I have seen come out of their shop is top quality. Check them out at www.fourxdoctor.com to see if they might work for you.
Q: Where can I get a quality hard top for my Jeep CJ-7?
I need black and am in Central CA...I have looked on craigs list in both Los Angeles and Sacramento...nothing...Maybe new? But am looking for used because of cost.
IT'S A 1986 Jeep Laredo
A: check your local junk yards. the top can easily be painted if you cant find a black one
Q: how can i find a good deal on a 1967-76 jeep??
i live in the los angeles, california area
A: buy mine
Q: It is better to drive with a full tank of gas?
I have a '95 Jeep Cherokee and since I am a college student, I never have enough money to completely fill up my tank, so I put in $30 which gets me 1/2 a tank and just go until I'm on empty. Doing that, I averaged about 11MPG (very low I know, but I live in Los Angeles.. lots of stop and go traffic). However I recently filled my tank all the way and now am filling up when I get halfway down, so I'm always running on a full to 1/2 tank of gas. I'm now averaging about 12.5 - 13MPG.
TWO QUESTIONS:
1. Is there a reason for this? I've noticed myself being less forceful on the gas pedal and trying to cruise whenever possible (not easy to do in LA) but it is actually getting me better gas mileage to run on a fuller tank?
2. Is it better for my car and its parts to constantly run on a 1/2 to full tank rather than an almost empty one?
A: Well to start with if you don't fill up your tank there is no way to accuratly check your mileage. How are you checking it if you don't fill the tank? If you are using the onboard computer, I don't trust them, I have seen them be wrong.
I don't believe it would make any difference what so ever in fuel economy, except for the fact that as mentioned above it would be about 80 pounds lighter, while that would not make a lot of difference it would make some
The only downside to running near empty is that you are more likely to stir up any sediment in the tank which would find its way to your fuel filter over time, though I am not really sure how much there would be anyway, I have pulled the tank out of cars with 200,000 miles that barely had any
Q: Good first car for 16 year old girl?
I am 16 and I will be getting my first car soon. For a first car, my mom said she thinks I should get a small used car. I don't mind a used car but I'd prefer an SUV ;)
Anyway I have some suggestions but I'm not sure what car would be a good first choice. I put the cars in order from what I like most to least, but I am not limiting myself to these choices, these are just some that I think would be a good 1st car...any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Those are some suggestions I looked into. Do they have good mileage and efficiency? Overall I want a 4-door car, I can't stand 2-doors! Sorry, but I dont like Beetles, Saturns, Pontiacs, Ford Focus, Jettas, or the 07/08 Civics (they are so ugly).... I am trying to get past looks and go for quality but it's hard, especially when you are young lolz. But are there any more suggestions for me? Any help would be appreciated. Thx.
A: I too would recommend the Mazda 3 or the Honda Accord.
Another car to recommend is the Hyundai Elantra. I own a '08 Elantra and couldn't be more pleased.
Crash test rating is 5 star on the Elantra. Best warranty in the car world.
Heed the well written and well expressed advise of CrazyBob.
A car is transportation. You make the car. The car does NOT make you.
Another point to consider. Insurance costs. Factor in the cost of insurance when considering which car to purchase. You are in the highest risk age range and insurance will be necessarily expensive.
If you can put off buying a car until you are 18 please do so. Insurance costs are reduced at age 18, 21, and 25. This reflects how long it really takes to be an experienced driver.
Good Luck
