Q: How to fined a local reliable transmission shop in Dallas?
My transmission may just need to be serviced real good in a good transmission shop. How to fined a reliable one? Hava a toyota camry in Dallas, TX.
I like to know how much it cost a service?
A: I live in Dallas too and have a camry and I take mine to the dealer. It's not under warranty but they will tell you honestly what's wrong with it and if you don't like the amount they charge, you can call other shops for an estimate.
It's a way to make sure you don't get taken for a ride anyhow...
Q: I need to come up with a name for a dallas fort worth based website for toyota forums. any ideas?
A: StillSteers.com is #2, but #1 is:
theLoneSteer.com
Q: Where is a good place in Dallas, TX to get your car battery cleaned?
I own a 2001 Toyota Corolla and I recently purchased a battery at Walmart and need my battery terminals cleaned. I know this can be a do-it-yourself type of thing but I would rather go to a professional since I have no idea what I am doing. Also, Walmart did not provide me with a battery holder for the battery. Anyone know where I can get one from?
A: put coke or pepsi on the terminals will clean them up like new. the battery holder is in you car holding your old battery
Q: Who knows anything about the Toyota T100?
Well, there's a Toyota T100 Extended Cab available for a cash price here in Dallas, and I need a work truck.
Is there anyone out there that can tell me about this Toyota truck?
Was it of the same Toyota quality?
What engines did it have?
Was it any kind of competition against the American competitors (Silverado/Sierra, F150, Ram)?
And what is the bolt pattern? It desperately needs some new rims.
Thanks in advance on any information yall can provide.
A: The T100 is a good alternative to a small truck like the Tacoma. It gets better gas mileage than a full size truck, but lacks the power for heavy towing. It has a bigger interior than the small trucks. It's something like a v6 Dodge Dakota, except that it is economical, reliable, more refined, better looking and it rides better. It also has fairly good resale value considering the age of the truck. I suppose all that makes it nothing like a Dodge Dakota.
Q: Where can I scrap a car in South Dallas?
86 Toyota Cam. runs.
Wanting to get rid...but make a hundred or so.
A: you could take it to a junk yard but you wouldn't,t get anything for it probably,,,that car is to old ,and there is no demand for that old stuff..try your local paper or park it somewhere with a 4 sale sign,,you never know who come along..
Q: How much does it cost to transport a car?
I need to transport a 1998 Toyota Camry LE from Dallas, Texas to Puerto Rico. Does any one know what company I should use? Or have an idea of how much it would cost me?
A: Try a company called DAS Shipping.....and just guessing on a price, I would say between $2000.00 to $4500.00 dollars.

Q: I am a junior in college. I am a car salesman at toyota. Long hours dont allow me to go to school. Help?
I need a job that can still get me 35-55 K a year. I have 5 years of car selling experience and just want a job that can help pay bills and yet allow me to continue my education. Anything with fixed hours would help. Please help with suggestions. I live in Dallas TX.
A: That should not be a problem considering the skill set you have acquired by being a salemen, I know insurance companies like State Farm, banks like Bank of America, and even a wireless company like Cingular, will assist you with your tuition and allow for you to go to class, w/ Cingular speaking from experience - be sure to ask for what you want regardless of what they are saying has to be your minimum.

A: I realize, that when you don't have much money, every dollar counts. Or at least this is the case for me.
Now the oil problema ans shacking you discussed are awfully vague descriptions. and they could mean something ninor, or something major.
Look, I think the best thing you should do is ask around -- friends, family, etc, for a reliable mechanic. And I think you should have a reliable mechanic check over the car. Yes, it might cost you anywhere from $40 to $60. But it could save you any where from $500 to thousands of dollars.
I take it the gas station where you work is not a full service place. That is too bad. But if there was a service bay there or nearby, it would have been / might be a good place to start getting help.
Look, how far is it to dallas, becasue you have to take that into account too.
There are some things you want checked out:
Brakes. Obvious why.
Engine. No engine no car.
Glass. You don't want the windows to fall out, or to be pulled over by some eager beaver cop...
Front end steering and suspension. Because these repairs are very expensive: In the $500 to $1000 range. Include the power steering pump and hoses in that check up.
Tires. How far is Dallas again? You surely want to be travelling on good rubber. Does not have to be new or premium, but you want it safe.
Battery & alternator. Either one is from $80 to $150 to fix.
Transmission. No tranny, no car.
Fuel tank. Odd? Yes. But I can tell you from personal experience, with 2 cars, that you're looking anywhere from $450 to $950 to change that puppy if it cracks a leak.
Radiator and heater. If the rad goes on the highway, you can kiss the engine goodbye.
Body. Look, we don't care about the paint job here, or a little rust. We care about strutural rust.
I'm not trying to scare you away from the car. But if you get this van checked out properly -- or any other car you might think of buying -- you can save a ton of tears and trouble for later on.
The next thing, is that a mechanic, might be able to give you an honest assessment of the car's actual cost/sales value.
You might also be able to get that at a used car lot. Be honest. Say you are looking for a used car, your budget is $X (padd it by a few hundres bucks), and that this van is one of the options you are considering, but that you saw an add of theirs, or noticed a car on the lot, and that you are curious. They may be quite helpful.
Then too, maybe, if the mechanic says it is ok, you might be able to talk your boss down $50 or so.
And remember, you will need license plates, registration, INSURANCE, gas, and oil changes.
A car is nice. And useful. But don't get yourself into something that will sit on the driveway broken down. A friend of mine did that.
But, you know, if this one does not work out, hey, keep looking out for something.
And keep saving money. Smoke a pack less a week... Cut down on the coffees an sodas a touch....
That way, when you get a vehicle, you'll have something useful that will last a while.
Don't get fooled by style, options and crap. Try for a small, efficient car, with just the basics.
And good luck. I really hope you get yourself some decent wheels.

Q: Does anyone know of a good source for suspension parts for a T-100 with one ton package?
I have a Toyota T-100 one ton and am having trouble locating parts such as spring shackle bushings, shocks, etc... at reasonable prices. The dealerships in the Dallas area can't seem to help. NAPA can order the parts but they want $100 per bushing. Found a Toyota dealer in California who has springs but not any bushings. Does anyone have idea(s) where I could find suspension repair parts for a 97 T-100 1 ton ?
Thanks.
A: Look in the telephone directory doesnt look like anybody here can help
Q: Is it legal for a auto body shop to take parts off and not put them back on?
My daughter was hit by an uninsured motorize and took my car to Toyota of Dallas for an estimate on repairs. While the vehicle was in their possession they choose to rip off the bumper and side panel to check for additional body damage. They never asked to that and certainly never called me for permission.
I am the owner of both the vehicle and the Geico policy holder. My daughter is only 17 and has no legal right to sign any sort of monetary contract. I received a call from the Geico adjuster explaining that they were not going to cover $2000.00 of brake related repairs. The adjuster believed they were not accident related. Toyota of Dallas collision repair shop and after they verified my out of pocket expense was going to be around $2000.00 I had no choice but to refuse the service and have the vehicle to a less expensive place for the brake repairs.
I paid Toyota of Dallas $477.37 and another tow service $140.00 to have the vehicle towed to Just Brakes. My daughter goes to pick up the car and is outraged at its condition. The vehicle has no bumper, no side panel, and no headlight. Just Brakes verified this was the condition it was in upon its arrival to their shop being delivered from your dealership. I called Jr in the collision shop to be told that they don't put damaged parts on vehicles. I told them no one ever told them to remove the parts.
Below are links to photos, after the wreck before going to Toyota of Dallas, After Toyota of Dallas front view. I have other photos available as well.

A: Hi. I've read your blog, and the email exchanges back and forth between yourself and the dealership. This is an unfortunate situation that might have been avoided had you gone to the dealership yourself.
Based on some quick research, here's the correct answer:
First off, you need to consult an attorney. You MAY have an actionable claim against the dealership for tearing apart the car without your consent as the owner of the vehicle. It all hinges on exactly what your daughter signed, and what exact caveats the authorization has, as far as what the dealership is allowed to do based on her signature as your agent.
The big issue here is how far her authority goes as your agent. By sending her to the dealership with your vehicle, you HAVE made her your agent as long as she has your permission to bring in the vehicle...UNLESS there are laws specific to your state that limit the extent of her agency based on her age. However, unfortunately I think the fatal mistake here is not going to the dealership yourself, as owner of the vehicle, or at a minimum, having your daughter call you once she got there and speaking with the service rep directly to clarify what needed to be done before authorizing anything.
Bottom line....call a lawyer, explain the situation, and see if you have any recourse. Most initial consultations are free, so you can see if you have a case or not. If not, your best option is to see how much the insurance company is willing to pay for, and get everything fixed that you possibly can with the least out-of pocket cost to yourself. Good Luck.
Hope this helped you out.
Q: Help? Woman alone trying to fix A/C in Toyota Forerunner. (ugh)?
I have a lot of things working against me here. I am brand new to the area -Dallas, Tx. I am a single woman and have no clue as to what could really be wrong, and I don't want to be taken advantage of because of it. I have had it looked at, and worked on twice just before I moved here. Guess what? It was "fixed" -yeah for about one hour. The mechanic who did the work at first just added some new "stuff" -ok I don't remember what you call it, but I do know that while the truck is a '97 it has the "new stuff" in it. Not the old. Anyway the first fix didn't work, so I took it back. He said he found a leak in/with a "seal" (or maybe he said a "ring") and fixed it. That is when it blew cold air for about one hour and never after that. It blows -so doesn't that mean SOMETHING good? It just doesn't blow cold. And let me say...tomorrow is supposed to be really really hot here in Tx.!!! Should I bite the bullet and take it to a dealer? Will it be guranteed then? Thanks SO much!!
Great ideas THANKS!!!
Yeah I wish I could take it back to the guy I paid over $300.00 to fix the leak, but there is no way I am going to drive back from Tx to Calif. again to do it! haha
Any other"certifications" or "qualification" I should look for in an a/c mechanic?
Gapark..
thanks for the local tip!
WOW!! Thanks to everyone!! I feel much more prepared
A: Bottom line...
If they had it working for ANY period of time, that leaves it to one thing... you still have a freon leak somewhere in the system.
I have to tell you... some leaks are very difficult to locate, especially when they very small leaks. You need to take it back or better yet, somewhere else, tell them to run nitrogen through the system, and find your leak... and don't stop at the first one they find, tell them to check the entire system.
- Good Luck!
