Q: good honda mechanic in North dallas?
I'm trying to find a good honda mechanic in Dallas ( Irving/Lewisville/Coppell/Addison) area to replace the timing belts, water pump on my 'new' 96 accord. I tried searching around but, I could not find any reviews on local shops. Please help.

A: I'm not a big fan of the dealerships - they don't seem to be selling as many cars and must be trying to make it up in the shop. Not that they're all bad, but just usually more expensive than an independent mechanic. Try taking a look at the Car Talk web site (link below). Check out "Find a Mechanic" and you can search your area and see review of mechanics from regular folks. It's right on the main page - near the bottom right. I've used this tool to find my local mechanic - he does great work, cheaper than the dealer, and is a good guy!

A: John Eagle on Lemon Ave. in Dallas, near the Tollroad. My family has bought 5 cars from them over the years, including my brother and I's hondas that we drove all through high school and college. i bought one for $350 but they gave me the engine for a 90-93 accord and they dont have one for my 95.
A: just buy a new car. that way you wont have to worry about your 90 93 engine fitting in your 95. and you wont have to do all the work. after all its just an accord.

Am living on borrowed time with my '98 at 150k. Any suggestions for good mechanic and/or dealer shop which will do a good job and not charge me arm, leg, and my firstborn child?
Also: have heard it's good idea to replace water pump at same time (as front end already taken apart anyway)...comments?
A: always chainge the pump if it goes bad it will take out the belt and it can cause lots of damage to the valves
as far as cost call around get referals from friends for a compatant mechanic

A: There could be many reasons why the a/c doesnt cool when you are stopped, low on freon, high humidity, cooling fan not working, need to know more detail if possible . a mechanic can diagnose the problem

A: Regardless of what color you want, paint jobs are standard priced, regardless of being "fancy". You'll get a paint job according to your budget. Meaning this is the reason Maaco has a whole car paint package for $400, and also one for $2500. It all depends on how well you want it to look. But beware, the low end ones really look bad, and it's not worth going to a different color and have it actually look worse. I would advise that with a 10 year old car, just live with it.
Q: How much should a 60,000 miles tune up cost for a Honda Accord?
I have a 2000 Honda Accord And it just reached the 60,000 miles mark. It says in the manual I should have a tune up. Does anyone know how much it should cost and what needs to be done to the car? Also, I live in the North Dallas area so if you can reccomend a place to tune it up it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
A: Replace the plugs , rotor and cap , change the oil , fuel filter and air filter and your done. Most hondas are ok until 70,000 miles or 100,000 km , They need a timing belt and belt guides replaced at that time . its usually good to put a water pump on at that time as you are in there already. Tune up pays 1.5 hrs labour according to Chilton labour guide. Fuel filter pays .5 hr , air filter is n/c and oil change pays.3 add cost of parts and your done.

I am from Dallas and had a real good mechanic there I could trust and was very reasonable in their prices. I have taken my Honda to several Honda dealerships in Houston and have not had goodexperiencess. I am looking in the entire Houston area. I already have a quote in Dallas but would rather stay in Houston than to drive 500 miles round trip to go to Dallas. Here is my car stats and what I need to get done.

A: call dealership alternative....they used to be called hondacura but had to change name.....i have used them several times----very good and cheap..tony is the guy on fm1960 and they are great and about half the price of a dealer.....also they won't do anything unless needed they have a website but it is not very complete. here is there page to get the phone number:
